Course Description

  • AP Human Geography is a year-long college level course designed for students entering the 9th grade. Students who are interested in history, geography and cultural anthropology are encouraged to apply. The AP Human Geography course is the equivalent of a college survey course in modern Human Geography. As the College Board states, “The purpose of the AP Human Geography course is to introduce students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth’s surface. Students employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human social organization and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the methods and tools geographers use in their science and practice.” Students taking this course will still be eligible for AP World or AP European History their sophomore year.
