Course Description

  • SELECT THIS COURSE USING AP LIFE SCIENCE ON THE AP COURSE SELECTION FORM.This is a college level, year long course of study. It is an in-depth study for all major areas of Biology which will prepare the AP Biology student for the AP Exam in May. The course is taught through lecture, active classroom discussions, readings, and laboratory projects. The student must master the material in a college level text. The topics for the fall term are as folllows: 1: Chemistry of life (inc organic chemistry and water properties) 2: Cell structure and function (inc membrane transport) 3: Cellular energetics (photosynthesis, cellular respiration) 4: Cell communication (signaling) and cell cycle (mitosis) Spring semester: 5: Heredity (meiosis and inheritance) 6: Gene expression and regulation (Central Dogma: DNA, RNA, Protein) 7: Natural selection (Evolution) 8: Ecology (inc population dynamics)
